about JIM

Jim Pittman currently works as chaplain, mentor and encourager with the accessions team of JAFC, and works with the Order of Saint Martin of Tours. He has been married to his wife Judy since 1986. He assists as a priest at Incarnation. 

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences from Longwood College, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Clinic Pastoral Education from Medical College of Virginia. He completed a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He completed civilian Naval postgraduate work at Boston University earning a Master of Sacred Theology in Ethics. He has also completed a Certificate in Anglican Ministerial Studies at Nashotah House. 

He was commissioned in the United States Navy in Richmond, Virginia on December 29, 1992. In March of 1993, Chaplain Pittman reported to his first assignment and over his career served sixteen duty stations, including two assignments with the United States Marine Corps.  He has earned numerous military awards including a Legion of Merit. He has been an ordained minister with the Jurisdiction of Armed Forces and Chaplaincy (JAFC) since 2023.
